My name is J.R. Lancaster. I'm a lawyer and writer in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. This is where I publish my writing. I'm mostly interested in editorial, educational, and nonfiction writing but I don't plan to follow any strict parameters about what I post here. If I write something and think it's worth sharing, it'll be here.

That said, for the foreseeable future most of the writing shared here will be focused on Cherokee (Kituwah) language. I am not a fluent speaker, and I'm not Cherokee. Specifically, I mean I am not a tribal member of the the Cherokee Nation, the United Keetoowah Band, or the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. I am not a member of any tribe. Everything about Cherokee language published here is the result of my study as a second-language learner, may contain mistakes, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

The materials published here mostly began as notes I've taken during my own Cherokee learning process. As time goes on and I learn more, I return to these documents and polish them. Before publishing, I review them with speakers (especially JW Webster) to troubleshoot for errors and misunderstandings. Sometimes the writing is in the form of essays or articles explaining specific topics. Sometimes it's in the form of tables, lists, handouts, or other learning materials.

Please don't ever cite me as an authority on the topic of Cherokee language. Don't ever credit me, in any academic sense, as the originator of the information contained in these documents. None of the work here is the result of original research. Now and then I may have an original idea about how to explain a topic that's already been taught to me--but that's all I'm doing here.

Above all, please keep in mind that I am a second language learner and an armchair linguist at best. If you find any mistakes in any of the materials I have shared here, I would be delighted to hear from you--I look for every opportunity to sharpen these documents and make them more helpful. My only intent is to help increase the overall volume of helpful materials for anyone who wants to learn the language.

I do intend to write about broader topics here as time goes on.  I'm particularly interested in the topics of politics, religion, law, philosophy, strength training, media criticism, and wrestling. I'll get to that stuff some day, I'm sure--but for now my writing is focused on Cherokee language.
